Many misconceptions exist regarding why dogs mount or hump. Many talk about dominance with this problem. This myth has been perpetuated about dogs being descendants of wolves and in a constant struggle for dominance in a pack. However multiple studies have been performed on wild wolves that disprove this dominant animal theory. It just does not occur. So, the idea that that dogs are constantly seeking out their humans to assert dominance is not backed by science, just myth.
