Dr. Whalen picked up Rugby in Vet School and played until he was 40.
Joe Whalen knew since he was a child that he wanted to work with animals. Initially, he thought his path would be wildlife management. After learning this would lead to a desk job with the government, he decided to pursue veterinary medicine.
Dr. Whalen was the third owner of LePar Animal Hospital when he purchased the clinic in 1995. He loves all aspects of veterinary medicine, but early on in his career developed a passion for Surgery, Chiropractic, Acupuncture and veterinary rehab. Helping relieve pain and keeping your pets active and healthy is his main goal. Dr. Whalen enjoys mentoring veterinary students and young veterinarians, including his daughter Natalie. He also speaks at veterinary schools around the country.
In his free time, Dr. Whalen enjoys exercising, weight lifting, cooking, gardening and traveling with his wife Lisa.
